President, Ukrainian Foundation
Yuri Boyechko, President of the Ukrainian Foundation, embarked on a transformative journey from Lviv, Ukraine, to the United States at the age of 38. Driven by an unwavering passion for community engagement, Yuri immersed himself in advocating for the interests of American Ukrainians, even engaging with Members of Congress in Washington, DC. His involvement extended to serving on the Board of Directors of the Mennonite Loan Fund from 2007 to 2011, providing valuable insights into the intricacies of non-profit organizations.
In response to Russia’s annexation of Crimea and the invasion of Eastern Ukraine in 2014, Yuri joined the Ukrainian Foundation, channeling his efforts into supporting Ukrainian hospitals with essential medical supplies. This pivotal moment marked the continuation of his dedication to community service.
For the past two decades, Yuri has been the driving force behind the Ukrainian-American Community Magazine, KAHOH, evolving it into a prominent voice for the Ukrainian Foundation. Through this platform, he strives to amplify the stories and experiences of the community, fostering unity and understanding.
Central to Yuri’s beliefs is a profound faith in American democracy and freedom. He passionately advocates for the United States to play a pivotal role in supporting Ukraine’s journey toward becoming a strong and independent nation. Yuri envisions a future where every Ukrainian enjoys the same freedoms as their American counterparts, and he remains steadfast in contributing to this shared aspiration.
Yuri extends gratitude for the opportunity to share his journey and commitment to the Ukrainian-American community. He looks forward to further discussions on how collaborative efforts can advance common goals and strengthen the bonds within the community.
